Christmas in Stratford-upon-Avon

If it's a traditional Christmas you hanker after, where better to experience it than in Britain, where heritage lies close to the surface of modern life.

You'll find carol singers on street corners and town squares, the rich smell of roasting fowl, the scents of cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon, of baking cakes and steaming puddings wafting through homes and restaurants, traditional pantomimes and Christmas shows, Tudor revels, Victorian markets, trees glowing with lights and decorations, and, of course Father Christmas.

We can't promise you snow, but a December break in Britain promises everything else you hope for and more.

Did you know?
Every year a piece of the Glastonbury Thorn takes pride of place on the Royal Table on Christmas Day. Legend has it that the Glastonbury Thorn is the direct descendant of the staff of St Joseph of Arimathaea, said to be the founder of the famous Glastonbury Abbey. St Joseph is said to have thrust his staff into the ground where it grew and blossomed.
