Christmas Carols
Wherever you are in Britain in the run-up to Christmas, you'll find carol singing. We've highlighted a few of the best known events, but there are many more with Carols by Candlelight sing-alongs amongst the most popular. Trafalgar Square
Carols are sung around the Norwegian tree on Trafalgar Square from 1700-2100 on evenings until 24 Dec. The annual service of Blessing the Crib takes place this year on 8 December, starting at St Martin-in-the-Fields Church at 1720 with a torchlit procession to the Square.

Carols in the Barn
Afternoon carol singing with a brass band in a traditional setting at the South of England Rare Breeds Centre. Mulled wine and mince pies follow. Please wrap up warm!

Concerts and Services at Bristol Cathedral

Did you know?
In the past when many people were illiterate, each county had its own carols which were learnt by heart. Many such carols were based on existing folk tunes, with Christmas verses replacing the orignal secular words.
