Chatsworth House, DerbyshireThe Great British Heritage Pass allows free entry to almost 600 historic houses, castles and gardens throughout Britain. There are three types of pass available, a 7-day pass, a 15-day pass and a one-month pass.

In 2003 the Great British Heritage Pass will be getting a make-over! Changes include a new four day pass, re-designed and re-branded promotional print, and in the future, refreshed website content. There are also new properties including Sutton Hoo, the Royal Horticultural Garden at Wisley and St. Paul’s Cathedral. More changes are planned in 2003 so watch this space.

The pass is available to independent, overseas travellers – offering value-for-money access to privately-owned properties and those owned by The National Trust, English Heritage, Historic Royal Palaces, Historic Scotland, Cadw and more…

Attractions which can be visited using the pass include Kensington Palace, Caernarfon Castle, Palace of Holyroodhouse and Tower Bridge.

Passes can be purchased either in the home country of the visitor or in Britain upon arrival. In Britain, passes are available from selected tourist information centres in a wide range of locations including airports, seaports and the Britain Visitor Centre in London.

The Great British Heritage Pass has been available for more than twenty years and has proved popular around the world, with over 40,000 passes purchased each year. Head of Campaigns at the British Tourist Authority (BTA), Jeremy Brinkworth, comments: “The Great British Heritage Pass is an excellent way for visitors to get the most out of Britain’s great heritage at an affordable price”.

Promotional literature: Great British Heritage Pass information leaflet - available in six editions – three English language - Europe, Americas and Australasia/Far East/South Africa and three language editions - French, German and Dutch. Also, an illustrated directory detailing where the pass can be used including maps showing the approximate locations. This is issued to the customer upon purchase of the pass.
